Ethel Gutmann: Wild Growths

Ethel Gutmann: Wild Growths, 2014

An environmental sculpture consisting
of a cart, a crane and a video projection,
created specifically for Nata's Garden.
The cart and crane are extricated from
their functional-historical context and
become subdued, lifeless and absurd
objects. They are painted in pastel
colors, which serve not just as an
aesthetic mask or camouflage, but rather
as a blurring of the gap between the real
thing and its representation, with added
humor and irony.
