Maya Muchawsky Parnas: By the Wall
The 2013 Andy Prize for Contemporary Art
Gali Cnaani (born 1968) creates a new anthology of weaving. Dismantled parts of second-hand clothes that have been unraveled and re-assembled form hybrid textile creatures in transitional states. Cnaani subverts the dichotomy between the garment and the deconstructed structure and pattern, between industry and craft, between garments and cloth.
Maya Muchawsky Parnas’ (born 1972) ceramic installation is a disappearing act, a display of non-functional fragments, floor works and shelf works that nullify outlines and forms.
