Special Events

Lina Lapelytė is one of the most prominent Lithuanian performance and sound artists. Her performance based practice is rooted in music and flirts with pop culture, gender stereotypes, ageing and nostalgia.

Throughout her artistic career, Lapelytė has explored various forms of performativity, while crossing genre boundaries and entwining folk rituals with popular music and opera formats.

Her opera-performance Sun&Sea (Marina), created together with Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė and Vaiva Grainytė, was selected for this year’s Lithuanian pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale, the first all-female

pavilion to represent Lithuania.

The evening at the museum will feature three of Lapelytė’s performance works. Guests will walk through different spaces of the Museum, following the performances. The evening will conclude with a public

discussion between the artist and Ruti Direktor, the museum’s curator of the contemporary art.
