Art in Paris

Thursday 23 October 2014

The French Friends of the Museum went to preview the Fondation Louis Vuitton prior to inauguration and the Musée Picasso after five years of renovation. The trip concluded with the exhibition Objets: Pouvoirs Secrets at the Passage de Retz where Belgian artist Michaël Borremans, whose exhibition was shown this year at the Museum, was awarded the Contemporary Art Prize 2014.

The French Committee and its President, Mrs. Jacqueline Frydman, hosted an artistic day-trip on the 23rd of October in conjunction with the FIAC (La Foire internationale d'art contemporain).
Friends and members of the French Committee were privileged to be the first ones to discover the Fondation Louis Vuitton. More than 200 participants attended a private tour of the Foundation two days prior its official inauguration.

In addition, they visited the Musée Picasso in the Marais, also before its official re-opening. The much anticipated Musée Picasso re-opened after 5 long years of renovation and reorganization of the many works. The impressive and thought-provoking visits were followed by a delicious luncheon held in a specially built tent in a courtyard of the Musée Picasso.
Finally, guests viewed the exhibition Objets : pouvoirs secrets at the art-space Passage de Retz owned by Jacqueline Frydman, and participated in a ceremony during which the Belgian artist Michaël Borremans, whose exhibition is presently on show at the Museum, was bestowed with the Contemporary Art Prize 2014.
