Architecture and Design

The David J. Azrieli Central Archives and Israeli Research Center for Architecture

The David J. Azrieli Central Archives and Israeli Research Center for Architecture is a research institution that focuses on the study of the artistic, cultural, social, political, and technological characteristics of architecture. The objective of the archive is to collect and retrieve original architectural material in diverse media (blueprints, sketches, models, digital material, tests, letters, and the like). The collection of such material is intended to create a data base of primary sources, the first of its kind in Israel, which will facilitate academic research in different fields of interest.

The Archive collects material in the following areas:

The architecture of the Land of Israel throughout the generations;
Israeli architecture before the establishment of the State of Israel and afterwards;
Jewish architecture;
Modern architecture: the architectural material of the modern age from around the world;
Contemporary architecture.

We are pleased to announce that the Sharon Family has donated the Sharon Archive to the Azrieli Central Archives and Israeli Research Center for Architecture. A list of additional contributions and of the archive’s contents will be published soon.

The archival materials and studies that are carried out under its auspices will be published as academic monographs and will be presented at exhibitions in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

The Archive maintains contact with the leading archives in the world.
