Encounter at the exhibition Joshua Neustein: You cannot step into the same river twice (in Hebrew)
Encounter with the exhibition curator Dalit Matatyahu
In the exhibition Joshua Neustein revisits the Jerusalem River Project, which he created in 1970 with Georgette Batlle and Gerard Marx. In that original action—considered the first sound work produced in Israel—the sound of flowing water emanated from loudspeakers installed along the dry riverbed of Kidron Valley, which slopes eastward. Originally conceived as a [site-specific] environmental work outside the museum walls, the imaginary river now takes on a new interpretation within the gallery.
