Now, After the War / Reflections after the guns have fallen silent
A tour through two exhibitions presenting works created eighty years apart, yet sharing the same suspended moment in time: the moment after the war
The exhibition Year Zero offers a renewed encounter with artworks created in Europe and brought to the Museum on the eve of World War II. By tracing their stories, the exhibition provides a rare glimpse into Europe before and after a war that devastated the continent.
Eighty years later, the video installation Observation / The Field Observers of the Gaza Sector: A Video Installation by Talya Lavie presents ten testimonies of female lookouts who served along the Gaza border between 2016 and 2024. Lavie offers a penetrating look into the military system during the years leading up to the outbreak of the October 7th War, revealing a charged space of responsibility and guilt, chance and fate, and above all — camaraderie and friendship at the edge of the abyss.
Now, After the War brings these two exhibitions into dialogue, not along a historical timeline but along the continuum of human experience.
