Encounter at the exhibition Melech Berger: Conditions for a Flourishing Humanity (Hebrew)

Encouter with the curator, Ruth Direktor

This is the first museum exhibition of Melech Berger (b. 1926), who worked for decades outside the mainstream of the art world. His works – from the 1970s through the 2000s – are made of materials from nature (such as sunflower and other seeds, twigs, feathers, date-palm bark, small pebbles, and powder crushed from stones), and reflect human, civic, and political values. His work offers an unexpected example of ideologically engaged art, infused with faith, which sets out to convey a message.
