NomaScope / Museum Cinema / Pulp Fiction, 1994

Cult films accompanied by a short introduction and admission to the exhibition Noma Bar: Look Again

Over the years, Noma Bar has created posters for some of cinema’s most iconic and celebrated films. NomaScope, a film series presented in conjunction with the exhibition Noma Bar: Look Again, features films for which Bar created reinterpretations of their original posters, now on view in the exhibition.

In his illustrations, Bar has a remarkable ability to distill a complex idea into a sharp, lucid image. Often, it is precisely the negative space—what is not drawn—that contains an additional layer of meaning, transforming what we thought we saw at first glance. Bringing the films together with the images Bar created for them reveals how an entire cinematic world—its characters, ideas, and tensions—can be distilled into a concise and surprising visual interpretation.

Each screening will be preceded by a short introduction by Yuval Saar, curator of the exhibition.

Pulp Fiction

USA, 1994 | Director: Quentin Tarantino | Cast: John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis | 149 min., English with Hebrew subtitles

Two hitmen, a boxer in trouble, the rebellious and enigmatic wife of a crime boss, and a pair of young robbers cross paths in a series of interwoven stories set in the criminal underworld of Los Angeles.

Quentin Tarantino’s groundbreaking Pulp Fiction unfolds through a memorable ensemble cast and a nonlinear narrative, with razor-sharp dialogue that has become some of the most quoted in film history, and a distinctive blend of crime, violence, and black humor. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, the film became one of the defining works of 1990s American cinema, revitalized John Travolta’s career, and gave Samuel L. Jackson one of his most memorable roles.
