Hans Op de Beeck: The Thread

The video The Thread (2015, 15 min) follows a love story between two lifesize punk puppets, operated in Japanese Bunraku theater style by puppeteers in black. Hans Op de Beeck’s (b. 1969, Belgium) premise is a Chinese proverb about the invisible thread that links together those who are destined to meet. This simple metaphor is at the core of a short story about love, growing old, death and loss.
