Iva Kafri: Multiplane(s)

Installation view

The Rappaport Prize for a Young Israeli Artist, 2013

Iva Kafri’s painting originates in an empty gallery space, into which she "pours" wallpapers, acrylic and spray paints, printed transparencies, Perspex sheets and various industrial materials and continues in action in that space, shifting between the spontaneous, brutal or imaginary and the premeditated, considered and measured. It ends in an abstract "painting installation," rich with painterly gestures, which summons the viewer to wander within it and capture countless aspects and new compositions.
