James Ensor: Salt Water

Masks, 1925

Works from the Museum Collection

Belgian artist James Ensor (1860–1949) spent his life in Ostend, drawing its lanscapes and its people. He resisted his critics and the artistic conventions of his time. The exhibition presents paintings and drawings from the Museum collection (donated mostly in its early days), which depict his unique artistic methods and his influence on Modernism.
