Living Forms — Joan Miró, Max Ernst: Prints from the Collection
The display presents a selection of prints made by Joan Miró for books and journals, and Max Ernst’s portfolio Histoire Naturelle (1926), containing 34 collotypes reproduced from his first frottage drawings. In the spirit of the close cooperation between Surrealist artists and writers, with its characteristic independence of media, the bodies of work are presented alongside each other, illustrating the great freedom and diversity of the Surrealist utterance.
All works in the display are a gift from Charles and Evelyn Kramer, New York, 1990
