We are all going through extremely trying times. In a bid to help, however modestly, we continue to offer, for the second week running, an hour of respite, by providing captivating lectures and encounters every day, free of charge, via Zoom.

In recent years, there has been a revival in the use of images of Israel’s fourth Prime Minister, Golda Meir. After decades of deliberate disregard, there has been renewed interest in her tenure as Prime Minister and her legacy as a stateswoman and woman. Moreover, popular culture has also adopted her image as an alternative gender model. At this encounter we will review the visual and cultural representations of Golda Meir—the only Israeli politician who succeeded in breaking into international popular culture.
