Story time with Shira Gefen and workshop with David Polonsky

The Heart-Shaped Leaf / Shira Geffen, 2003, Am Oved
The first children’s book illustrated by David Polonsky. The book narrates the relationship formed between the girl Alona and a tree, told from Alona’s point of view. Polonsky’s illustrations seem to be painted on wood.

A Moonless Night / Shira Geffen and Etgar Keret, 2006, Am Oved
Zohar realizes that the moon has disappeared and sets on a journey to find and return it. The search for light is a central motif, enhanced in David Polonsky’s illustrations and the silver-colored pages.

David Polonsky (b. 1973, Kyiv), one of the most important and prolific illustrators working in Israel today. His illustrations, full of color and movement, are created for comics, journalism and children's books. His works draw on many visual sources, such as the history of art and the history of illustration, through cinema and the popular media.
